Mofage sent me the POCO II back in February, months before today’s official launch, as a pre-production sample with no paid budget attached. That gave me something most reviewers won’t have on launch day: five months of actual use instead of five days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Mount Swap & Build Quality<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The POCO II covers PL and EF on the front, with E, RF, L, Z, X, and Kine mounts on the camera side, per Mofage’s official spec sheet. It’s also lighter than the original, 239.8g against 304.8g. The bigger change is the front: the original never had EF, but the POCO II ships with an EF adapter that swaps on in seconds. The locking ring styling has also changed, with one fewer grip point than the original, likely to provide clearer access to the filter tray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I ran this on an actual short film shoot with the Pyxis 6K, swapping through takes, and it was an absolute breeze, no fuss, no fiddling mid-scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VND & Skin Tone<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The drop-in ND cartridge pulls straight out and is controlled by a side adjust dial, with the same 0.3 to 2.4 stop range as the original, with hard stops to avoid an X-pattern cross shadow. Adjusting exposure on it was a breeze, no fumbling, no menus, just a turn of the dial mid-shot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

26mm Insertion Depth \u2014 Check Your Lens First<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Clearance opens up to 26mm on the POCO II, a significant jump over the older PL lens clearance range, so it’s worth checking your own cine lens against that figure before buying. NiSi Athena lenses, which had issues on the previous version, are reported to fit properly now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I put that to the test, running a lens comparison, Sony A7V against the S1II, using my DZO Vespid 2 35mm T1.9, and I had no issues at all, it seated clean on both bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verdict<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you’re already shooting PL and running more than one lens with different rear-element depths, the POCO II is a clear buy. If you’re on a single native mount using front filters, it’s not essential yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
